Oil on canvas
75 x 100 x 2 cm
2023
Please see my hope blog on my website https://www.sarasherwood.co.uk/category/hope/ which explains my Christian art practice and encouragement.
I paint in oil on canvas and everything is a gift from God. I don't think, I paint. The titles pop in my head and I hear and know the colours to use one step at a time. Scripture also comes into my mind. I let go and let God. The interpretation is not literal but often allegorical or abstract. For example Gunmetal Sky based on Ephesians: as an armour of God prayer painting of London: expressing a wish for protection over London. Reds representing the Blood of Christ and silvers representing the armour... Another painting Sea of Flowers Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me, a sinner. is a sea and floral depiction of this prayer and the parting of the waves. It was also printed and used as an altar cover in my local church.
I chose to submit In silence Some say it is in the space between the colours where the peace can be found. You cannot feel this art in the image sadly, but I hope it still speaks to you in a silent way.
