I am a Sculptress using text as a medium to reinterpret or reimagine written communication between the scribe and the reader.
My work is analogue and my making is all by hand, either embroidery, collage or letter press printing.
I follow two complementary artistic practices.
I research formal instructions and humanize the words using my own handwriting on textiles, to create a new and intimate visual relationship between two people who will never meet; the writer of the original text and the reader.
In tandem, I combine my own poetry and found words to pose questions in an art space, often in 3D sculptural forms.
I believe that words are received through all 5 of our senses, including the realms of imagination and dreams.
It is my artistic privilege and joy to create pieces with the tools given by our extraordinary alphabet.
