I am Harry Joel Gundiri, a Nigerian pencil artist based in Yola, Adamawa State. My practice focuses on hyper-realistic pencil drawing, using graphite to explore human identity, emotion, resilience, and the quiet stories carried within a face. I am fascinated by how light, shadow, texture, and expression can communicate experiences that words sometimes cannot. Through my work, I seek to transform ordinary moments and human stories into intimate visual experiences, encouraging viewers to pause, observe, and connect with the subject beyond the surface. My art is not only about creating realistic images; it is about using realism to reveal emotion, preserve stories, and create meaningful connections between the subject and the viewer.
