I am a graphite artist, focused on exploring light and atmosphere through detailed drawing. I strive to capture a tangible sense of atmosphere using subtle tonal shifts, soft as well as bold mark making, and carefully observed light. My work invites viewers into quiet spaces that I hope encourage calm, peace and a gentle sense of escape. Ultimately, I strive to reach the emotions of the viewer, to move them. Put another way, I hope my work speaks to them, as art - born out of passion - speaks to me. ‘Come To Me’ is one of a number of pieces I have created of a church window in Walkhampton Church (Devon / Dartmoor) and it very much ‘speaks to me’. Its theme is based on Matthew 11:28 and this is a prayer and meditation I visit often. My mother too is buried here. ‘In the silence’ is the first part of a triptych I’ve been working on for some time now. Each part is / will be executed in a different style but tells a part of the same spiritual journey and story. Finally, both pieces were executed with love and I hope that comes across. Thank you
