Beech egg, copper-plated nails, glass bell jar with chrome handle
16 x 14 x 14 cm
2026
I look up to the Night Time Heavens from Bempton Cliffs where there is very little light pollution. The splendour of God’s Creation is magnificent, seeing the glory of the Milky Way and discovering the many wonders of the Universe beyond our Galaxy gives me an abundance of themes to interpret and represent through my Art Work.
I use Aquatint Etching as a primary medium as the solvents dissolve and disperse the Aquatint in a way that emulates Cosmic Drama as the Universe continues to expand and perform its incredible Celestial events.
My Sculpture is also inspired by the Revelations of Deep Space phenomena. The Pulsar emitting its energies, the Supernovae with their magnificent Illuminations, Feeding Black Holes and the Powerful Discharge from White Holes.
‘Sacred Egg’ and ‘Devotional Egg’ are both representations of Neutron Stars and Supernovae; Examples in Creation that Demonstrate Divine Illumination. The copper nails radiating from the Olive Wood Egg represent the Cruel Treatment of Jesus at his Crucifixion but also symbolise the glory of the Resurrection. The glass bell jar shrouding ‘Devotional Egg’ enhances its status as a focal point for spiritual contemplation.
