Akangsenep Jamir - The Shepherd knows where to find me

£4,000.00

Mixed media on canvas
88 x 76 cm
2026

My art revolves around the themes of faith and identity, guided by the belief that art is the language of the heart – a universal medium that connects us to ourselves and to one another. Through my work, I strive to create spaces or moments where we can rediscover and reflect on our true selves. I primarily work with oil and mixed media, blending both conventional and intuitive techniques. I rarely begin my paintings with a rigid plan; it’s mostly spontaneous. While I have a message or inspiration in mind, the technical path often reveals itself along the way. It’s like approaching the canvas as a beginner, experimenting and discovering. However cliché it may sound to certain individuals, painting has always felt like chasing rainbows for me. Always seeming incomplete for reasons I don’t really know. I’m always seeking for something when I paint, but I never truly get there. Sometimes it’s frustrating, exciting at other times and the pursuit for that something perhaps will never materialise into a concrete answer; it well may remain as a conceptually driven pursuit. Yet however it ends matters little, because not knowing everything keeps me curious. In the end, I find joy in this journey.
